Bird Field Guide
One of the larger Tit's the Great Tit is a distinctive bird unlikely to be confused with any other. Note the striking underside of this bird and the bright white cheeks.
A common widespread resident bird throughout the UK and Europe.
Can be found in almost any area of bushes, trees, gardens and hedges.
A large bold colourful tit, the Great Tit can be seen almost anywhere and is a frequent visitor to garden bird tables. Unlike other tit's it can frequently be seen feeding on the ground and looks much heavier than other common tits. The female bird is very similar to the male except she is a little duller and the black stripe on her underside is thinner and more diffuse than the male.
